It opened each week with a song, the structure of which did not change, but the contents were amended to reflect the week\u2019s news.&nbsp; An example of the song, the tune and the structure <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pkX0X7kHpHA\">are here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In honour of that, here is our year, in review, in revue style&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-verse\"><strong>That was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nThat was the year that was\nIt started way above par it finished well below...\n\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nWe took our ease,\nIt brought us a disease.\n\u00a0\nJanuary started as January might,\nWe worried we might have too much flight,\nFebruary saw news from the east,\nWe ignored it, we were ready to feast\nOn all that traffic, all that cargo...\n\u00a0\nSo March was a shock,\nThe cargo was carried, the passengers blocked\nApril and May was lockdown, all over the world\nPassengers cancelled, but still vouchers held.\nBy June we were panicked, as panicked can be,\nBut the states were there, cash at the ready.\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nThat was the year that was\nIt started way above par it finished well below...\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nWe took our ease,\nIt brought us a disease.\n\u00a0\nJuly saw the sun, and what we hoped was some light,\nAt the end of the tunnel, instead it was more pain,\nThere was no hope, no lifting of blight,\nThat was no light, it was an on-coming train.\n\u00a0\nAugust was summer, at least in the north,\nWe hoped for a rebound; crowds off to the beach,\nAll we got in its place was regulatory back-and-forth,\nAnd instructions to inject bleach.\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nThat was the year that was\nIt started way above par it finished well below...\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nWe took our ease,\nIt brought us a disease.\n\u00a0\nBy September our patience was very quite thin\nAll the forecasts, all the spin, all the grins landed in the bin.\nOctober we focused on vaccines, the great hope of the year,\nBut getting to the world would call for cargo heading to a new frontier.\nThe right to fly anywhere, whenever they liked...\n\u00a0\nA small price to pay, some pundits would say\nBut not if you want Chicago to hold sway.\nNovember was the month for only the brave\nAs we all started to ride that second wave.\nNow we reach December, and Christmas is shot\nBut it is fine for incumbents \u2013 they get the slots...\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nThat was the year that was\nIt started way above par it finished well below...\n\u00a0\nThat was the year that was,\nIt\u2019s over, let it go.\nThat was the year that was.<\/strong>\n\u00a0\n\u00a0<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our weekly column That Was The Week That Was takes its name from perhaps the first political satire TV programme in the world, broadcast in the early 1960s, by the BBC.&nbsp;
