Aviation Spectrum for sale or rent…

Years of demanding that they be treated like any other business is about to come home to roost for UK airlines, because Ofcom, the telecomms regulatory agency is considering charging for acess to spectrum.  Why is this so important?  Because Ofcom UK is very  much a thought leader in European telecommunications.  Think of the auctioning of 3G spectrum.   There can be no doubt that other European regulators will be watching this experiment very closely.  Treating airlines like phone companies, or anyone else that needs spectrum, and subjecting them to if not market forces, then at least comparative pricing based on opportunity costs is not exactly what  I suspect that the airlines had in mind… A short article on this is available on the website.  Here is the link: http://www.aviationadvocacy.aero/articles.htm
